Cosmetic Dentistry
“Cosmetic Dentistry” is a term which has come to mean all treatments aimed at improving a patient’s appearance. The most popular of these treatments is bleaching, but it also includes crowns, bridges, veneers and implants. We provide some of these treatments, but some are best done by a specialist.

Sedation
Dermot has been using conscious sedation for over 40 years and has completed thousands of cases. This treatment is ideal for somebody who gets stressed at the thought of having dental treatment. Essentially, the patient becomes very relaxed and gets all of his treatment done in one visit, in a simple comfortable way

Dental Hygienist
A dental hygienist is a vital part of any dental team. Jackie is our in-house dental hygienist. Her function is to scale and clean teeth and advise on oral hygiene. Far more teeth are lost due to gum disease than due to decay. Gum disease is difficult to treat but can be prevented. The best way to care for your teeth is to have regular chech-ups with your dentist and regular visits to the hygienist

Tooth whitening products containing over 6% of hydrogen peroxide are now illegal and their sale is prohibited, while tooth whitening is restricted to those over 18 years of age. Extreme care must be taken during bleaching to prevent sensitivity

Amalgam (silver) Fillings
There is some controversy concerning amalgam fillings. The profession has concluded that they are absolutely safe and there is no evidence to dispute this. see: http://www.iristhealth.com/askdoc.html?q=3932 Back to top
