A denture is a removable replacement for missing teeth made of a durable material that mimics the appearance of your teeth and gums, giving a natural and realistic appearance. Dentures can be made from plastic (acrylic) or metal (cobalt-chrome), and can be fully removed for cleaning. Whether replacing several or all missing teeth dentures can be an excellent and cost-effective solution that will be sure to restore confidence in your smile.

There are several options to replace a missing tooth, depending on your needs, oral health, and budget. The most common include

1. Dental Implants:

• Description: A dental implant involves surgically placing a small titanium post into the jawbone, which acts as a replacement root for the missing tooth. Once the implant integrates with the bone (a process called osseointegration), a crown is placed on top to restore the appearance and function of the tooth.

• Benefits: Implants are durable, look and feel like natural teeth, and prevent bone loss in the jaw.

• Considerations: Requires healthy jawbone and may take several months for the implant to fully heal.

2. Dental Bridges:

A dental bridge consists of one or more artificial teeth supported by crowns placed on the adjacent natural teeth. This creates a “bridge” over the gap left by the missing tooth.

3. Partial Dentures:

Partial dentures are removable appliances that replace one or more missing teeth. They are made of acrylic and sometimes have metal components to hold them in place.

4. Full Dentures :

Full dentures replace all of the teeth in an upper or lower arch. They are typically made of acrylic and are designed to fit comfortably over the gums.

Your dentist can help you decide which option is best for you based on your oral health, the location of the missing tooth, and your overall treatment goals.
